SPRING Network Meeting 2023 in Manila, Philippines

The annual network meeting of 2023 took place from November 7th to November 10th in Manila, Philippines. Representatives from the partner universities of Ghana, Tanzania, Brazil, The Philippines and Germany attended the meeting either in presence or online. Dr. Raffel Beier, Dr. Anne Weber and Dorcas Nthoki Nyamai from TU Dortmund University traveled to the Philippines and took part in person. The participants were welcomed by Dean Dr. Dina Magnaye and her team from the School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of The Philippines.

After the SPRING admissions committee had decided on the qualification of the applicants for the 2024/25 intake, the committee members identifies candidates for DAAD-EPOS scholarships.

A major topic of the agenda was the ‘Global SPRING 25’ action plan. The participants reflected and discussed the measures of the action plan that were implemented in 2023, decided on future activities for 2024 and assigned responsibilities.

Two SPRING alumni (Shaker MAHMOOD - Batch 1995/97 from Pakistan and Mozart Rezende - Batch 2004/06 from Brazil) presented their ideas for possible collaborations of their universities with the SPRING network via video call. The members of the SPRING network welcomed the interest and agreed on further steps for a possible cooperation.

The SPRING network meeting concluded with the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the School of Urban and Regional Planning.
