Urban-Rural Linkages - Beyond the Divide

Our former Head of SPRING, Prof. em. Dr. Einhard Schmidt-Kallert, gave another lecture within our intercultural offer for our SPRING students. The title was "Urban-Rural Linkages - Beyond the Divide". These days migration in the global South is mostly non-permanent. Migrants tend to keep economic and social links between the city and their rural place of origin. Prof. Schmidt-Kallert presented research results from different parts of the world, focusing on migrants' multi-locational livelihood strategies. At the end he discussed the relevance of this field of research for urban and regional planning.

In addition to the SPRING students, other students from the Department of Spatial Planning were also cordially invited.
