This Monday the SPRING Alumnus and current PhD student at the University of Bonn Md. Sohel Rana visited SPRING.
His research aims at understanding why the rural seasonal poor choose to migrate temporarily to other rural areas of the country rather than migrating to urban areas where there are jobs available throughout the year with relatively higher wages. It would avail a combination of both qualitative and quantitative approaches; regression analysis would be availed to test the hypotheses and answer the research questions whereas qualitative study would complement (by informing and explaining) the quantitative design. The study area is the North-west part of Bangladesh.
