Application

Ideally, you should meet the following criteria:

  • You are in your 5th semester and wish to complete an ERASMUS+ semester in your 7th or 8th semester,
  • You are in your 7th semester and wish to complete an ERASMUS+ semester during your master's studies,
  • Or you are a staff member of the department.

The information session for the next academic year usually takes place in November. After the event, the application portal is opened, and you can apply until December 23rd for the next winter semester and the following summer semester.

The following points can be part of your motivation letter:

  • Language skills (or if you plan to take a language course at the university)
  • Academic focus areas that align with the curriculum of the host university
  • Extracurricular or interdisciplinary involvement
  • Special personal or family circumstances

Please note the maximum page limit of one page with font size 10-12. The motivation letter must be uploaded to the application portal along with the CV.

Unfortunately, we have had to conduct lotteries for Dublin, Newcastle, Valencia, and Vienna in recent years, as we only have limited places available at these locations. If the lottery result is negative, there is usually the option to choose your second or third preference or to arrange an ERASMUS+ internship independently in the mentioned cities.

Often, submitting your high school diploma is sufficient for the host university. However, a few universities require paid language tests such as TOEFL, Cambridge, or IELTS. The following universities require language tests:

  • Aalborg (TOEFL/ Cambridge ESOL Test)
  • Amsterdam (TOEFL, IELTS CAE C)
  • Volos (TOEFL / Cambridge / IELTS)

After the allocation of places

In addition to ERASMUS funding, which varies depending on the destination country, there are other financing options such as foreign BAföG or scholarships.

Yes, an extension is possible under certain conditions, for example, if there is availability at the partner university and approval from the home university.

In the event of a cancellation, you must inform your home university and the partner university immediately. Any funding already paid may be reclaimed proportionally.

In the OLA (Online Learning Agreement), the agreed courses are recorded by the coordinators. Please consult with the de­part­ment's module coordinators before your stay to determine whether your courses at the host university can be credited.

Many partner universities offer accommodations for international students; we have the necessary contact details if such an offer is available at the host institution. Especially in major cities with tight housing markets, such as Rome, make sure to address the housing issue as early as possible.
