To support graduate students and researchers in this process, the Writing Lab w.spaceof the Division of Foreign Languages at TU Dortmund University is offering a series of three on-site workshops in February 2026.
The workshops focus on academic writing in English. Many of the strategies and techniques presented can also be applied selectively to dissertations and papers written in German.

Graduate Writing for Publication
16–17 February 2026, 9:00–16:00

This workshop focuses on the publication process and on common templates for writing data-driven academic papers.
Essentials of Clear Writing: A Workshop for Graduate Students
18 February 2026, 9:00–16:00

Participants will learn how to improve the readability of academic texts. Key topics include word choice, sentence structure, and paragraph structure, with the goal of making complex ideas more accessible and easier to follow.
The Fundamentals of Proposing Research
19 February 2026, 9:00–16:00
Emil-Figge-Straße 61, Room U11
This workshop supports participants in writing research proposals for dissertation projects or other research endeavors. Typical proposal elements such as abstracts, problem statements, research questions, and project descriptions will be discussed.
