Sandra Huning Appointed Adjunct Professor

In July, Dr. Sandra Huning was appointed by the Rector as an adjunct professor in the Department of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University. She has been a researcher in the department since October 2009 and, following her habilitation in 2021, has further refined her independent profile in research and teaching with the venia legendi in planning theory and planning sociology.

Her research focuses on planning theory and planning criticism, as well as space and gender. She is currently focusing in particular on the topics of “Caring Cities” and conflicts in participatory planning processes. She has participated in several successful externally funded projects in these fields. Her scholarly work is reflected in numerous national and international publications; she is also in high demand as a speaker and reviewer.

Sandra Huning has also been deeply committed to teaching for many years, including through her lectures on “Planning Theory” and “Space and Gender,” as well as through project-based teaching. Her high standing among students is evident not least in the high demand for her supervision of senior theses. Her experience in academic self-governance and her position as a visiting professor at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from 2022 to 2024 further underscore her academic profile.

The department extends its warmest congratulations to Sandra Huning and looks forward to continuing their successful and collegial collaboration.
