Representatives from all SPRING partner universities attended the annual meeting to admit next year students, select DAAD scholarship holders and discuss SPRING internals

The meeting, attended by the following representatives: Dr. Nelly Babere (ARU Tanzania), Dr. Patricio Belloy (UACh, Chile), Dr. Carmelita Liwag (UP SURP, Philippines), Dr. Sandra Momm (UFABC, Brazil), Dr. Kafui Ocloo (KNUST Ghana) and Dr. Basheer Saeed (UoD, Iraq), took place from the 17th to 21st of November 2025.

After the SPRING admissions committee had selected qualified candidates for the 2026/27 intake, the SPRING network group together with representatives from the DAAD EPOS program identified those candidates eligible for DAAD EPOS scholarships.

From Tuesday afternoon on, the agenda targeted issues related to the SPRING Master program and key topics about the Global SPRING 25 Plan.

Prof. Sophie Schramm provided a resume of results derived from the two surveys conducted among SPRING alumni and employer and introduced possible changes in the SPRING curriculum related to the module structure and composition of courses within the first year of study at TU Dortmund University. Regarding the future of SPRING, concrete proposals for adjustments to the study structure in line with the Global 25 Plan were presented and discussed among the participants.

Possibilities for closer cooperation in teaching and research were discussed, in particular the joint supervision of doctoral students through either cotutelle agreements or a joint doctoral program. Furthermore, each participant provided updates on their ongoing research projects.

Finally, the Global SPRING Network Management for 2026 has been determined, working groups were established and organizational arrangements were made for the next network meeting.

Dr. Kafui Ocloo was re-elected for a second term as Global SPRING Network Coordinator assisted by Dr. Nelly Babere as Vice Coordinator and Global Network Coordinator elect for 2027. The next annual SPRING Network Meeting will take place in Dar es Salam, Tanzania from 16th to 20th of November 2026.
