Master of Science
Our degree program Master in Spatial Planning trains and develops skills for the organisation of planning projects on all planning and decision-making levels. Aim is to combine research with practice and to prepare students for international science and research as well as for management functions in spatial planning professions. A wide range of advanced courses from the eight specialization areas will build on the interdisciplinary basic knowledge acquired. After completing the degree program, you will be qualified to complete an urban planning traineeship.
The study project or urban studio design is a central part to the two-semester Master of Science program. It also includes lectures and seminars and it is possible to complete the program part-time.
Why study the master program at TU Dortmund University?
The Department of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University is the largest planning science department in Europe and has a large number of specialisations from a wide range of planning disciplines. These allow a wide range of specializations for entering into the most diverse professional fields of spatial planning, enhanced by cooperations with the Ruhr University Bochum, e.g. in the field of renewable energies or in the field of property management through joint courses with the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TU Dortmund. Accordingly, the Master's degree program in Spatial Planning offers opportunities for specialization and courses that are not available to the same extent at any other planning department.
