Studium International Certificate
As students of TU Dortmund, you have the opportunity to earn the “Studium International” certificate as part of your studies. This certificate can be obtained at any stage of your studies and offers an ideal chance to purposefully build and prove international competencies.
The certificate is awarded by the International Office and is based on a modular structure. To receive the certificate, three out of four modules with an international focus must be completed. The modules include:
-
Buddy program (mandatory module)
-
Stay abroad
-
Language skills
-
Workshop participation
The buddy program is a compulsory component. Therefore, it is especially recommended for students planning an Erasmus+ stay abroad to participate in the buddy program in order to fulfill the certificate requirements. More information can be found here: Link.
Buddy Program
To become an Erasmus outgoing student, active engagement is required. You can choose between the buddy program and helping to organize info events.
When applying, you indicate your preference (buddy or info event). The assignment of a buddy depends on the guest country of your application and the incoming students. We try to match appropriate countries so that students can practice language skills and learn from each other. Of course, you can also become a buddy without going abroad yourself!
As a buddy, your tasks include:
-
Picking up the incoming student from the train station and accompanying them to the dormitory,
-
Assisting with handing over the apartment,
-
Translating between the caretaker and the incoming student,
-
Contacting the incoming student beforehand to arrange the pick-up time.
Your engagement strengthens intercultural skills and helps other students start their exchange successfully.
