A future of shrinking cities: toward a new urban paradigm
Declining birth rates, climate change, and deglobalization are all pointing toward a new urban paradigm in which shrinkage will gradually overtake growth, as it already has in some countries. Alan Mallach will explore these trends and their implications for cities in Europe, Asia and North America, and suggest some directions for thinking about new paradigms for urban economic life and sustainability in a changing world.
