Write your Way to your Career

Dear TU Dortmund Students and Researchers,

At some point, you may have to write job application documents, emails, and reports. We invite you to participate in the four-day workshop Write your Way to your Career: Technical Writing, Professional Writing offered by the Writing Lab w.space, Division of Foreign Languages, TU Dortmund.

Date and venue: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on 23.05. (EF 61, room 201), 24.05. (C1-06-430), 25.05. (Seminargebäude I, room 1.005), and 26.05. (EF61, room U15/16)

The workshop focuses on job application writing (CVs, resumes, cover letters, and letters of motivation), job-search-related email writing, as well as an executive summary and abstract writing. The workshop might be particularly beneficial to those who plan to apply to study abroad programs and internships or work internationally.

We will not only review the format of the above-mentioned documents but most importantly focus on the process of collecting and organizing the information you need to write a document that fulfills its purpose. For example, there are plenty of resume templates available online, but using them blindly will not secure you a job interview. For this reason, the workshop explores effective processes and formats of writing for profession.
